Influences of boco

A ton goes into a conference.  boco is an expression of what I think that works in the conference space.  With lessons learned taken from SXSW, Gnomedex, Twiistup, FooCamp and the BarCamp movement.

Some of the core principals we are using to guide our first boco:

  1. Accessibility- Low ticket price.  $99 for a day conference including dinner and a concert (many, actually) is pretty dang good.
  2. Ground Up- All the speakers are on the ground action oriented people.  They are the ones causing the change in their organizations.  No keynotes, we have allnotes.  You should be able to learn and take away something from every speaker.
  3. Participation- We are keeping it to a 175 person venue.  All the speakers are hosting break out sessions after their talk.  We love the model of barcamp, and have built in room for everyone to teach and share.
  4. Unique Fun- From cooking demos to logo makeovers, we are planning a unique experience for everyone.

Stay tuned to the blog to see how this progresses!

Two Big Speakers

Thursday is a great day for annoucements, we have two:

First, Brad Feld of Foundry Group will lead off the Tech portion of the day.  Brad has been in Boulder for years and is attributed to really building up the community.

Second, local band Paper Bird will be playing Boulder Theater that night, and a ticket to boco gets you in the show.

What a Ticket Includes!

We are rolling out plans and features and plans for boco.  We are doing a low ticket price at $99 to make it as accessible as possible.  This includes the twenty inspiring and innovative speakers, free coffee at five local coffee shops (we want you to walk around our wonderful town!), dinner at one of ten fantastic downtown restaurants and a great lineup of shows.

We are opening up a donation ticket that just includes the speakers during the day.  Just hit register, and it is an option!  We would love to have you!
